The club and golf course:

The Hella golf club was founded in 1952. The first 9 hole golf course was built on Gaddastadaflatir by the river Ytri-Ranga near the town Hella. In 1958 the club had to move the course and there was no land at that time available. It was not until 1970 that the club got a new land at existing location. The club started to prepare and build a 9 hole golf course and in 1986 it was enlarged to an 18 hole course.

Strandarvöllur has hosted the Icelandic Golf Championship (stroke play) 4 times in the last 21 years, most recently now in 2012.  Next to the Clubhouse is a big driving range where you can practice on grass.

GPS position:

The golf course is about 100 km drive from Reykjavík, located between the villages Hella and Hvolsvollur on the south coast of Iceland.  The course is 4 km from the village Hella and 9 km from the village Hvolsvollur.

The clubhouse is comfortable with café offering hot and cold meal. The opening hours for café is from 8:00 o’clock in the morning to 22:00 o´clock in evening.

Maximum handicaps: 36 for men and 36 for ladies.
Dress code: No jeans.

Green fees 2012 are ISK 5.000

Midnight golf is open at request. 

Green fees include full use of the clubhouse facilities rooms and restaurant.

All major credit cards are accepted.

Fosshotel Mosfell is a 2/3 star type Tourist Class hotel offering 35 rooms with shower/wc and 18 rooms with shared facilities.
