The club and golf course:
In the year 1994 the State Soil Conservation Service and municipal authorities decided to restrain the sand nearby the drive in Thorlakshofn. People were foresighted and parallel processing decided to experiment forming a golf course and growing it. In few words the experiment succeeded perfectly and in Thorlakshofn there´s now one of the magnificent links golf courses in Iceland.
The Thorlakshofn golf club was founded in 1997. With municipality ambitious ideas and hard work of the members of Thorlakshofn golf club in no time at all it has succeeded to manage to build an excellent 18 holes links golf course. Parallel building the golf courses itself the service has improved a lot for our visitors. In the year 2003 a new clubhouse was opened.
The Thorlakshofn golf club is so-called links golf course where the underlay is above all sand where sand-hills, small lakes and ponds play an important role. It´s very comfortably to walk the courses and hole 1 and 10 radiate from the clubhouse.
The Thorlakshofn golf club is only about 30 minutes drive from the Reykjavik area, capital of Iceland.

Golf Courses 
Thorlakshofn golf course is one of the true links golf courses in Iceland located in the southern part of Iceland. The golf course is located by the sea side nearby the village Thorlaksofn, only 51 km. from the capital, Reykjavik. The course is placed on a sand where sand-hills, small lakes and ponds play an important role.
There is a clubhouse with café offering hot and cold meals. The opening hours for the café is from 8:00 o’clock in the morning to 21:00 o´clock in evening. In the clubhouse you can buy golf items.
